As part of the "Climate and Resilience" law passed in 2021, UNIVALOM (Syndicat Mixte pour la valorisation des déchets) has been implementing the "OUI PUB" scheme in the commune of Théoule-sur-Mer since 2022. The aim of this operation is to offer citizens the option of accepting unaddressed advertising in their mailboxes. To continue to receive printed advertising, it will be necessary to affix the words "OUI PUB" to the letterbox.
Why OUI PUB?
894,000 tonnes of unaddressed printed advertising were distributed in 2019, and 44% of French people throw advertising in the garbage can without paying attention, at least once a week. With this in mind, OUI PUB aims to reduce waste and paper waste by effectively targeting consumers who really want to receive printed advertising. It's a non-binding approach, with citizens free to agree to receive advertising information, with the aim of making advertising less intrusive.
What's involved?
OUI PUB" only applies to unaddressed printed advertising. It does not apply to local authority newsletters (municipal, community, departmental and regional), political and electoral communication, press samples and nominally addressed advertising material.
How can I receive advertising?
To continue receiving unaddressed advertising, you will need to mark your mailbox with the word "OUI PUB".
OUI PUB stickers are available free of charge at the following locations:
- at the Town Hall, Tourist Office, CCAS, Media Library and harbor master's offices
- in partner supermarkets and hypermarkets
- at UNIVALOM depots

It's also possible to handwrite your choice to receive unaddressed advertising directly on your mailbox. In this case, you'll need to make sure that the words "OUI PUB" or "imprimés publicitaires acceptés" are explicit and legible.
