Filets de récupération des macro et micro-déchets

To trap waste

At the initiative of the Agglomération Cannes Lérins, as part of the Aire Marine Éducative, the 1st net for collecting macro- and micro-waste was installed in 2020, at the outlet of a rainwater pipe on the Suveret beach. Since then, six other nets have been installed on avenue Charles Dahon, at the exit of Vallon de l'Autel and avenue de Lérins, to raise public awareness, retain solid waste transported by stormwater networks and reduce the amount of waste that ends up in the sea.

Asian hornet

Here begins the sea!

In the commune of Théoule-sur-Mer, a system of 40 enameled lava stone slabs has been inlaid near rainwater drainage grates.

Gutters and manholes are all too often regarded as garbage cans. However, this waste ends up in the sea via streams, valleys and the wind, not to mention direct discharges by users of the sea and coastline.

Erosion, degradation, macro-waste is a threat to marine flora and fauna, as well as to human socio-economic activities. It disrupts marine and coastal ecosystems. It also generates significant management costs.

Raising everyone's awareness and civic-mindedness is one of the keys to maintaining bathing water quality and seabed biodiversity in the future.

This initiative by the town of Cannes and the Cannes-Lérins conurbation, which has been duplicated in numerous towns and conurbations, was awarded the special "Public Awareness" prize by the Conseil Départemental at the Trophées Climat Energie 06 awards ceremony.

Tchao Mégots

3,500 cigarette butts can be used to make... a down jacket! The municipality has started recycling cigarette butts, which are still too common on our beaches and coastline.

Si vous avez une cigarette à jeter, repérez ce petit collecteur : il y en a 28 sur le littoral Théoulien.
