The Communauté d'agglomération Cannes Pays de Lérins bringing together the towns of Cannes, Le Cannet, Mougins, Théoule-sur-Mer and Mandelieu-La Napoule officially came into being on January 9, 2014 at the first community council meeting.
Cannes Pays de Lérins is a structure that makes it possible to manage services together on a catchment area level, thus generating economies of scale and improving service performance.
The compulsory powers of the Communauté de Cannes Pays de Lérins include economic development, regional planning (including transport), social housing and urban policy.
Among the optional powers, the following have been chosen: the transfer of waste management in order to formalize and coordinate the work of communal services; the protection and enhancement of the environment and quality of life; the creation, development and maintenance of roads of communal interest; and the construction, development, maintenance and management of cultural and sports facilities.
The players in the Cannes Pays de Lérins agglomeration community are committed to synergy and territorial coherence, with the aim of building a common destiny based on the principles of rigor, respect for the identities of the communes, transparency and efficiency.
