Single electoral register

The civil status that appears on your electoral card is now that recorded in the Répertoire National d'Identification des Personnes Physiques (RNIPP) managed by insee on the basis of the information transmitted :

  • By the communes for people born in metropolitan France, the French overseas departments, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, Saint-Martin or French Polynesia.
  • By the social sphere for people born abroad, in New Caledonia or Wallis and Futuna

The purpose of the RNIPP is to verify the official civil status of voters.

However, errors may occur and you can ask for them to be corrected:

Electoral situation

Check that you are registered on the electoral roll for your commune, on the service-public.fr website. If the teleservice identifies you, this means that you are registered in the commune you have entered.

Voter registration

L’inscription est possible jusqu’à 6 semaines du scrutin. Pour les élections municipales 2026, il est possible de s’inscrire sur les listes électorales en ligne jusqu’au 4 février 2026 et en mairie  jusqu’au 6 février 2026.

Change of address

After moving house, you may want to change the address on your electoral card. Depending on your situation, the procedure will vary:

  • If you're in the same commune, all you need to do is notify your town hall of your change of address, bringing your identity card or passport (original and copy) and proof of address. This will enable you to receive your electoral card and remain on the electoral roll.
  • In a new commune, you will need to go to the town hall of your new home with your identity card or passport (and a copy), proof of address and a cerfa form n°12669*01 (available from the town hall) to change your address on your electoral map.

Proxy voting

Thanks to the Maprocuration teleservice, you can apply for a power of attorney online.

You can give your proxy to someone you trust at any time up to one day before the election. You must then validate it in person at a police station or gendarmerie brigade. You'll need to show proof of identity and your "Maprocuration" registration reference.
